Serving more than 150 hospitals across the Midwest region, LifeServe Blood Center is working with BNIM to envision a new headquarters building in Johnston, IA, that will better support the organization’s vital work within the community and their mission to save lives. LifeServe’s new headquarters will accommodate the organization into the next three decades, providing a more collaborative, flexible building that enables LifeServe to grow and adapt for the future while strengthening their community presence. The new headquarters building will include a donor center, blood drive and blood center operations support spaces, 24/7 lab for blood processing, and a series of office, administrative, and collaboration areas.
Impact + Innovation
To accommodate the complex movement of blood product through the facility, the project team carefully studied design options to ensure efficient workflows and adjacencies of the site. The building’s welcoming outdoor and indoor spaces will aim to strengthen community connections, clearly demonstrate LifeServe’s mission, and encourage meaningful interaction between LifeServe staff, volunteers, and donors.
