30th Street Post Office Renovation & Federal Office Facility

30th Street Post Office Renovation & Federal Office Facility

Information

The preservation and redevelopment of the historic Main Post Office building in Philadelphia transformed the building into a world-class office facility. All character-defining historic features of the Mayan-inspired Art Deco design were retained and meticulously restored. The project reversed 70 years of exterior and interior deterioration, and was one of the largest historic tax credit projects in Pennsylvania history.

The restored Main Post Office is now home to nearly 5,000 federal employees, a day care center, credit union and large cafeteria. The activity brought by the employees working in the restored building has created greater vitality, business opportunities and security in the area.
