Des Moines International Airport Terminal Planning Study
Information
- Size 300,000 SF
- Services Architecture
- Project Type Transportation / Infrastructure
BNIM recently collaborated with HNTB on a terminal planning study for the Des Moines International Airport, designing a replacement for the existing terminal to improve the passenger experience. The multidisciplinary team considered projected passenger counts, projected aircraft fleet size, compliance with TSA security requirements, and other associated improvements required to provide quality service. Planning strategies focus on cost effective reuse of existing infrastructure including runways, parking facilities, roadways, and utilities, and also determining phased construction options that allow for continued operation during construction of the new terminal.
