Hans Nettelblad brings over three decades of experience in the architectural profession with in-depth involvement across the entire spectrum of project design – from concept through construction. Hans has provided unparalleled leadership and direction on complex, large-scale projects at BNIM, advocating for sustainable and human-purposed design solutions. His work aims to improve performance and provide healthier living, working, and learning environments for users.

His experience serving as Project Architect for the phased renovation of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, along with leading several projects in the rebuilding of Greensburg, KS, including the LEED Platinum Kiowa County School facility, led to him being named The American Institute of Architects’ Kansas City Chapter “Architect of the Year” in 2008. Over the past 25 years and more than 30 projects, his work at the Nelson-Atkins Museum includes workplace, education, event and assembly space, building envelope, support facilities, landscape and sitework, and over 100,000 sf of gallery space.

Hans has served as Senior Project Architect and Project Manager on numerous other projects at BNIM including the Pacific Center Campus Development in San Diego, and Project Manager for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts REACH Expansion in Washington, D.C. Currently, he is serving as Project Manager of the Center for Connected Learning at Moffitt Library on UC Berkeley campus, and the expansion and renovation of the Springfield Art Museum.
