D.J. Johnson recently joined BNIM as an Urban Designer and Planner with a passion for sustainability and community revitalization. Through his professional experience in Urban Planning and Real Estate Consulting, D.J. provides a deep knowledge of urban planning in his role at BNIM, seamlessly planning, leading, and directing initiatives that enhance urban environments.His experience includes designing and implementing inclusive public processes tailored to each community’s needs. He also has provided invaluable guidance to municipalities and economic development groups on site selection, zoning, master planning, development agreements, and future growth. He has worked on ESRI Data Profiles for city demographics, such as Ladue, MO, KirkwoodMO, and Bentonville, AR. D.J. also formerly served as Executive Director of Urban Village Outreach for which he provided oversight on fundraising, marketing, and program development initiatives and created plans for rehabilitation of existing properties in underserved areas of St. Louis, MO.In his role at BNIM, D.J. brings his dynamic expertise to continue to elevate urban spaces and promote sustainability through urban design and planning. D.J.’s dedication extends beyond BNIM to his involvement with professional organizations including the American Planning Association, his pursuit of AICP certification, and his contributions to the Urban Land Institute. D.J. received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and Master’s Degree in Regional and Community Planning from Kansas State University.
