Sam Nordmeyer Honored with AIA Iowa Impact Award for Project Addressing Food Insecurity

Sam Nordmeyer, an architectural designer at BNIM, was recently awarded an AIA Iowa Impact Award at this year’s Annual Spring Conference. The award recognizes architects, designers, and other collaborators on architectural projects that directly benefit social, humanitarian, community, or environmental causes. Sam received an honorable mention in the student work category for the College of Design Greenhouse project, completed while he was a student at Iowa State University and a collaborator with Whitehead Design Workshop. The project was praised by the jury for its thoughtful design proposal and for addressing the important challenge of food insecurity. The jury also commended the research, analysis, and careful drawings that went into the project, as well as the transformation of an existing space to reimagine new possibilities and expanded uses.
