Kevin Nordmeyer to present at 2025 Accessibility Professional Network (APN) Conference

Kevin Nordmeyer, FAIA, LEED AP, BNIM Principal, will be a guest speaker at the 2025 Accessibility Professional Network Conference, APN2025: Building for People this March 27 – 28, in Vancouver, B.C., hosted by the Rick Hansen Foundation. The Annual APN Conference brings together industry leaders, accessibility professionals, and global thought-leaders to explore how we can collectively continue to build a more inclusive and accessible world for individuals of all ages and abilities. Kevin’s presentation session, Setting New Standards in Inclusive and Universal Design, will take place March 27, 2025.

Kevin is an experienced architect, pioneer of sustainable design in Iowa, and Principal at BNIM who served as the design leader for the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa – a model facility for inclusive design and home to The Harkin Institute for Public Policy and Citizen Engagement. The project is a 2024 COTE Top Ten Award recipient and seeks establish a new standard for sustainable design to include equity and wellness in addition to traditional energy and environmental criteria. Following the design of the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center, Kevin led BNIM’s team, in collaboration with The Harkin Institute and MillerKnoll, to co-author ALL – The Making of the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center and A Guidebook of Strategies for Inclusive Design. This publication seeks to provide guiding principles and strategies to elevate inclusive design in practice, emphasizing the importance of equity and inclusion in built environments. Kevin serves as a Harkin Institute National Advisory Council member and was invested as a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects in 2024.
