Kevin Nordmeyer appointed to serve on The Harkin Institute’s National Advisory Council
Kevin Nordmeyer, FAIA, LEED AP, BNIM Principal, was recently appointed to The Harkin Institute’s National Advisory Council. In this role, Kevin will contribute to the institute’s bipartisan council of national leaders in business, public service, and education who provide guidance and direction for the institute, serve as speakers and mentors, and support The Harkin Institute’s mission. The Harkin Institute seeks to improve the lives of all Americans by giving policymakers access to high-quality information and engaging citizens as active participants in the formation of public policy.
In 2020, BNIM’s team led by Kevin, completed the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center as the new home for The Harkin Institute on Drake University campus. The building serves as a model for inclusive design, exceeding ADA guidelines and creating a facility that reflects a spirit of empathy and grace and considers the full spectrum of human need.
The publication ALL, authored by BNIM, The Harkin Institute, and MillerKnoll, shares the design principles that helped shape the Harkin Center. The ALL book has served as a guide for inclusive design strategies across BNIM’s practice and has shared these concepts with clients, collaborators, and industry peers.
