Jeremy Knoll and Sarah Hirsch participate in Metropolis Perspective: Sustainability Symposium 2020

Metropolis Magazine is hosting its bi-annual sustainability symposium Metropolis Perspective: Sustainability. BNIM sustainable experts, Jeremy Knoll and Sarah Hirsch will participate in the symposium’s events, with Jeremy joining the panel discussion in Session 1: Technologies for Sustainability on July 27, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. EST, alongside panelists from Mithun, Perkins & Will, and SmithGroup, and Sarah and Jeremy taking part in the Sustainability Roundtable on July 30, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. EST.
Session 1: Technologies for Sustainability
This panel featuring Jeremy will include a discussion of tools and technology that support sustainable practice and climate action through sustainable specification, embodied carbon calculations, and building performance analytics.
Sustainability Roundtable
In the roundtable, Sarah and Jeremy, along with other industry leaders, will discuss practices to improve specification for sustainability, such as certifications, sampling methods, and transparency.
Jeremy Knoll, LEED Fellow, is an industry expert in green building rating systems and serves as a firm leader in sustainable design and climate action initiatives. Jeremy was a key contributor to BNIM’s 2020 Sustainability Action Plan and first annual sustainability report, Subject To Change. Jeremy serves as a volunteer leader nationally, regionally, and locally for the USGBC, Executive Board member of Climate Action KC, and leader of the not-for-profit organization he co-founded, Historic Green.
Sarah Hirsch, LEED AP, is BNIM’s specifications writing expert and has been instrumental in developing BNIM’s “green” master specification. With a vast knowledge of materials and systems, Sarah develops sustainably minded and rating system-oriented guide specifications for the firm, working with project teams to increase sustainability in projects by incorporating LEED v4 compliant language in specifications. Sarah has contributed to multiple projects designed to achieve Living Building Status.
