BNIM Projects recognized for elegance in design, execution, and craft at 2023 AIA Kansas Design Excellence Awards
BNIM was honored to receive three awards for design excellence at the 2023 AIA Kansas Design Excellence Awards in Manhattan, Kansas, in October. The jury included Steven Ehrlich, FAIA, Meryati Blackwell, AIA, Paul Mankins, FAIA, and Elizabeth Ranieri, AIA.
Overbrook Overlook received an AIA Kansas Excellence in Design Architectural Honor Award in the “Small Architectural Project” category. The jury commented on the design, execution and craft of the project, and appreciated how Steve and MaryAnne took a simple, modest shed and made it something “really special.”
Dr. E.J. and Margaret O’Brien Hall at Marquette University received an AIA Kansas Excellence in Design Architectural Honor Award in the “Architectural Project” category. The jury described O’Brien Hall as an “elegant, sophisticated building with great clarity.”
Kansas City International Airport Parking Garage received an AIA Kansas Excellence in Design Architectural Honorable Mention Award in the “Architectural Project” category. The jury noted the garage as “elegant and intelligently planned,” and the project “elevates an often-overlooked building type into something remarkable.”
