BNIM Presenting at AIA Iowa Procrastinators Ball
At this year’s annual AIA Iowa Procrastinators Ball, BNIM will be giving a presentation and discussion of Inclusive Design at the Harkin Institute at Drake University. This year’s in-person event will include a building tour of the Harkin Institute on Drake University Campus. BNIM design team leaders Kevin Nordmeyer and Jason Kruse will present on the Inclusive and Universal Design strategies of the Harkin Institute that elevate building experience for all individuals through generous space, equitable experiences, clear paths, and individual empowerment.
The goal of this seminar is to encourage the design of spaces that “empower a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness and social participation.” Inclusive design prioritizes the experience and participation of building users by considering the full range of ability, age, gender, language, cultural understanding, and other characteristics of human diversity in the context of place. This new building embodies the values of the Harkin Institute through the use of inclusive, equitable spaces that have set a new standard for universal and inclusive design.
