AIA Nebraska ’23 Conference: Joyce Raybuck and Dana Sorensen present key strategies for Arts Education

BNIM’s Joyce Raybuck and Dana Sorensen will present an engaging session entitled “Cultivating Community Presence, Sustainability, and Inclusivity in Arts Education” at this year’s AIA Nebraska ’23 Conference on September 28, 2023 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Joyce and Dana will highlight key strategies for flexibility, sustainability, and human-centered spaces to support arts education, community presence, and inclusivity. The presentation will explore these innovative strategies through two key case studies on the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Building.

The University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art

The Stanley Museum of Art restores a dedicated art museum to the University of Iowa for the first time in 14 years, following historic flooding in 2008. With its renewed presence as an innovative library and laboratory for the arts, the museum successfully demonstrates the interweaving of cultural arts and academic programming to embrace the educational turn and the multifaceted role of academic art museums within our campuses and communities.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music Building

The upcoming Glenn Korff School of Music Building redefines performing arts education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln by emphasizing cross-disciplinary collaboration, sustainability, and inclusivity. The building’s design encourages innovative, multimedia performances, making it a hub for creative exploration and community engagement.
