AIA Iowa 2023 Awards: Stanley Museum of Art Receives Honor Award, Craft Award, and Masonry Institute of

The University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art received three recognitions at the 2023 AIA Iowa Awards including one of two Honor Awards for Design Excellence, a Craft Award for Masonry, and a Masonry Institute of Iowa Grand Award. The jury commented on the project’s design, “There is a lot to love about this project and the level of restraint […] Very clear diagrammatic work that resulted in a tight and extremely well-made project […] It’s a very sophisticated green building.”

The Stanley Museum of Art is a new cultural arts destination on the University of Iowa campus that returns a resilient and dedicated art museum presence to the campus community after 14 years. Following historic flooding in 2008, the Stanley Museum of Art reunites the University with its renowned collection and welcomes students, faculty, and visitors from across Iowa to learn about, discuss, explore, and enjoy art.
