A central area of BNIM’s work and expertise is the design of innovative facilities and planning for Municipal, State, and Federal governmental entities. BNIM has worked on numerous projects for Federal entities including office facilities and headquarters and U.S. embassies overseas. Through this experience, we focus on ensuring safety and security, stewardship of natural resources, representing the values and history of a place, and enhancing the public realm through sensitive, inspired design.

U.S. Embassy - Kampala, Uganda

Within the bustling, vibrant city, the team drew inspiration from four dominant characteristics capturing the spirit of the place: the hills, the people, the movement, and the textures.

Richard Bolling Federal Building Plaza & Lobby

BNIM's design addressed many program issues, including site and building security and creating a strong interior-exterior connection, with the continued operations of the GSA underway during construction.

Bannister Federal Complex Finance Office & Atrium

The atrium skylight acts as a "Light Machine" that successfully lights the atrium and its adjacent spaces with natural daylight. The resulting design transitions over time, changing throughout the day and seasons; introducing rhythm and movement to the previously listless space.
