Education Centers

Education centers should support and enhance experiences for all individuals through spaces that provide comfort, accessibility, inclusivity, and equity to enhance learning and collaboration. Our work on a wide range of education centers has focused on elevating buildings as teaching tools, or “building as pedagogy.” Beyond their capacity to provide a nurturing learning environment for visitors, education centers help to enrich the connections and meaning that its users find within a subject matter.

Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center

The program for the Anita B Gorman Conservation Discovery Center on twelve acres of previously developed land was to accommodate six educational workshops that promoted conservation strategies, metro offices for the Department, as well as multiple-sized meeting spaces and a large 250-seat auditorium available to the community.

Tom and Ruth Harkin Center

Although the building could not be occupied as originally scheduled due to the extended pandemic, The Harkin Institute adapted the facility to needs forced upon them by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ground Level transformed into a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic where 10,000 people were vaccinated during the winter and spring of 2021 administered by the Drake University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.

A to Z Naturals Nutrition Center
