KC Magazine and KC Business Recognize BNIM Among Top, Local Architects at Design Excellence Awards
Kansas City, Mo., July 9, 2012: BNIM is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by sister publications, KC Magazine and KC Business among more than 45 Kansas City based designers and architects for their innovative designs at the fifth annual Design Excellence Awards on June 21 at the historic McCownGordon Construction building.
The prestigious Edward Tanner Award was given to BNIM and two other local firms (Hufft Projects and Populous) for the firm's full portfolio of work. Named after one of Kansas City’s great architects, the award honors firms that have made a lasting impact through design and architecture throughout the company’s history. Tanner’s design influence has given Kansas City distinction with such locations as The Country Club Plaza.
The Design Excellence Awards (DEA) acknowledge forward-thinking designers and architects who are pushing the boundaries of expectation. Focused on interior design, craftsmanship, outdoor design, green design and architecture, DEA covers a broad swath of projects from historical renovations to contemporary architecture. BNIM received a Gold DEA Award in the Historical Renovation Category for the Todd Bolender Center for Dance and Creativity.
“This year’s Design Excellence Awards provided the best showing of work we’ve had to-date,” said Katie Van Luchene, executive editor of KC Magazine. “More than 200 entries were submitted over 17 categories; we are proud to have these talented firms, architects and designers call Kansas City home.”
