BNIM Announces Co-Directors of Design for Interior Design Practice
Kansas City, Mo. (August 16, 2013) — BNIM today announced that Gretchen Holy and Elif Tinney, IIDA LEED AP have been named Co-Directors of Design for Interiors. The two will lead the design direction for the firm’s Interior Design projects upon the recent retirement of long-time Principal for Interiors, David Immenschuh.
Gretchen Holy brings more than 19 years of professional experience to her role as Co-Director. She will lead the firm’s Interior Design work from BNIM’s office in Kansas City, Mo. She is currently working on the much-anticipated Henry W. Bloch Executive Hall for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which is schedule to open at the University of Missouri – Kansas City later this month.
Elif Tinney, IIDA LEED AP brings more than 13 years of professional experience to her role as Co-Director. She will lead the firm’s interiors work on projects such as the Pacific Center Campus Development from BNIM’s office in San Diego, Calif.

Under Gretchen and Elif’s direction, the firm's interiors group will continue important work focused on client and industry leadership in many areas including BNIM’s proprietary Vision-driven design process, defining the workplace of the future and creating vibrant environments that address sustainable design and human factors such as health, happiness and productivity — and the measurement the benefits related to these factors.
They will lead the established and emerging group of BNIM Interior Architects and Designers who have worked on projects such as National Association of Insurance Commissioners in Kansas City, Mo.; Iowa Utilities Board Office Building in Des Moines, Iowa; Kansas City Power and Light Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.; EPA Regional Headquarters in Lenexa, Kan.; JE Dunn Headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.; Government Employees Health Association in Lees Summit, Mo.; The Henry W. Bloch Executive Hall for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UMKC; the Pacific Center Campus Development in San Diego, Calif.; The Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.; and many others.
BNIM's Interior Design Practice utilizes a holistic approach to ensure that interior spaces provide the inspiration and resources needed for people to thrive. Services include programming, pre-design visioning and goal-setting, space planning, design development, finish selection and evaluation of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
